New Delhi: A luxury car owned by Maharashtra BJP Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s son Sanket hit several vehicles on Monday (September 9) in Nagpur.
According to the police, while Sanket was not driving the car, he was present at the time of the accident, reported
The police said that prior to the accident, Sanket and his friends had consumed liquor. The car was being driven by one Arjun Hawre, who was arrested and later released on bail.
“Sanket and four of his friends dined at La Horee bar in Dharampeth area of the city, where they consumed mutton roast, mutton curry, chicken tikka along with some vegetarian items like masala peanuts and fried cashews. They also ordered two liquor bottles worth over Rs 12,000,” a police official told.
The opposition has slammed the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, alleging that efforts are being made to save the son of the BJP chief by blaming the driver.
Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut had alleged that Sanket had consumed beef at a bar before the accident, a claim that the police have denied.
A case of rash driving and other offences was registered after the accident.
