Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviews situation following heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir

The Lieutenant Governor spoke with senior officials and took stock of the situation in the wake of excessive rainfall across the Union Territory. He was briefed on rescue and relief operations being carried out by the Army, Air Force, CAPFs, NDRF, SDRF, and district administrations to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected.

Officials informed him that people affected by floods in Akhnoor were evacuated to safety by BSF, NDRF, and Police. Around 67 villages in Anantnag, Budgam, and Pulwama witnessed preventive evacuation, while nomadic families in Pulwama and Shopian were provided temporary shelters by the respective district administrations.

In Srinagar city, around nine relief shelters have been prepared for emergencies.

The Lieutenant Governor asked senior officials to take all necessary preventive measures against waterborne diseases. He also directed them to ensure rations, blankets, medicines, LPG, and safe drinking water for affected families, along with the speedy restoration of power infrastructure. He urged the public to take all possible precautions and safety measures.

The Lieutenant Governor assured that no effort is being spared by the Centre to provide timely assistance to those in need. He also expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragedy in Kangri, Sunderbani in Rajouri district, and wished for the well-being of all those impacted by the incessant rain. (Agencies)
