LG Sinha Orders Reopening of 14 Tourist Spots Across J&K After Security Review

Decision taken after detailed security assessment; more destinations to reopen following snow clearance

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday directed the reopening of several tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir that had been temporarily shut as a precautionary measure. The decision follows a comprehensive security review.

In a post on X, Sinha said that after detailed discussions and an assessment of the prevailing security situation, instructions were issued to reopen additional tourist spots to promote tourism while ensuring the safety of visitors.

According to the order, 11 tourist destinations in the Kashmir Division have been reopened with immediate effect. These include Yousmarg and Doodhpathri in Budgam, Dandipora Park in Kokernag, Peer Ki Gali, Dubjan and Padpawan in Shopian, Astanpora and the Tulip Garden in Srinagar, Thajwas Glacier and Hung Park in Ganderbal, and Wullar/Watlab in Baramulla.

In the Jammu Division, three tourist spots—Devi Pindi in Reasi, Mahu Mangat in Ramban and Mughal Maidan in Kishtwar—have also been reopened with immediate effect.

The Lieutenant Governor further stated that a few other destinations will be reopened after snow clearance. In the Kashmir Division, Gurez, Athwatoo and Bangus will be opened once weather conditions improve, while Ramkund in Ramban district will resume operations after necessary snow removal. (Agencies)
