Kulgam man dies of suffocation after sleeping in car with heater on

Mashooq Ahmad Mir (32) reportedly suffocated after using a heater inside his car overnight while waiting outside District Hospital Kulgam, where his wife was admitted.

A 32-year-old man from Kulgam died of suspected suffocation after sleeping in his car with the heater on, officials said. He had been waiting outside the District Hospital Kulgam, where his wife was admitted.

An official told the news agency Kashmir News Observer (Agencies) that the man had parked his car near the hospital and slept inside it overnight to stay warm. Continuous use of the heater in the closed car reportedly led to suffocation.

He was later found unconscious in the vehicle and rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body was sent for medico-legal formalities.

The deceased was identified as Mashooq Ahmad Mir (32), son of Mohammad Yousuf Mir, a resident of Kulpora area in Kulgam. Police have taken cognizance of the incident. (Agencies)
