Kishtwar, Dec. 29, 2025: District Police Kishtwar has successfully solved a burglary case with the arrest of the accused and recovery of stolen property, reaffirming its firm commitment to crime control and public safety in the district.
Sharing the details, SSP Kishtwar Sh. Naresh Singh (JKPS) stated that on 26-12-2025, a written complaint was received from Rinku Devi W/o Sandeep Kumar, R/o Lachkazana, Kishtwar, regarding theft at her residential house. Acting promptly, FIR No. 261/25 under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Kishtwar, and investigation was immediately taken up.
During the investigation, a police team led by SHO PS Kishtwar Insp. Firdous Ahmed, assisted by PSI Sofi Ashraf, and working under the supervision of Addl. SP Kishtwar Sh. Pardeep Singh Goria (JKPS), conducted sustained interrogation of a suspected individual. During questioning, the accused Touseef Ahmed S/o Parvaiz Ahmed, R/o Zelna, Kishtwar, confessed to his involvement in the commission of the burglary.
On the basis of his disclosure, the police successfully recovered stolen property, including ₹66,000/- in cash and gold jewellery, along with an additional ₹6,000/- cash, at the instance of the accused.
SSP Kishtwar appreciated the professional and timely efforts of the police team and appealed to the general public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police by sharing timely information. He further urged citizens to report any suspicious activity immediately to help ensure a safe and secure society in the district.
