Kishtwar, January 13, 2026: Continuing its sustained and intensified drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing War Against Drugs, District Police Kishtwar achieved another significant success by arresting a drug peddler and recovering a heroin-like (chitta) narcotic substance during routine patrolling in the Marwah area.
Sharing the details, SSP Kishtwar Sh. Naresh Singh–JKPS stated that a police party from Police Station Marwah, led by SHO PS Marwah SI Lal Hussain and PSI Sandeep Singh, along with other team members, was deployed for routine patrolling and checking of vehicles and pedestrians in the Haynan area of Marwah under the supervision of SDPO Marwah Sh. Ravinder Singh.
During the patrolling, the police party intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK19-2399 (Alto-800) for checking. The vehicle was being driven by Junaid Ahmed S/o Shabir Ahmed Wagey R/o Haynan, Marwah. Upon conducting a thorough search, the police party recovered approximately 25 grams of heroin-like (chitta) narcotic substance from his possession. The accused was arrested on the spot.
Accordingly, FIR No. 01/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Marwah. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and to identify other persons involved in the illegal drug trade.
Reiterating the zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, SSP Kishtwar stated that District Police Kishtwar remains fully committed to eradicating the drug menace from society and will continue its relentless operations against drug peddlers. He further appealed to the general public, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs and cooperate with the police by sharing any information related to drug trafficking, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
