Kishtwar, Jan 19, 2026: District Police Kishtwar have successfully solved a motorcycle theft case within 24 hours, reaffirming their commitment to swift crime detection and public safety.
According to SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Naresh Singh, JKPS, on January 16, 2026, one Ikhlaq Hussain lodged a written complaint at Police Station Kishtwar stating that he had parked his motorcycle bearing Registration No. JK17/0655 near the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), in front of the main gate at Chowgan, Kishtwar on 14-1-2026. Upon returning after a short while, he found the motorcycle missing, suspected to have been stolen by unknown persons.
Acting promptly on the complaint, Police Station Kishtwar registered FIR No. 22/2026 under Section 303 BNS and initiated a thorough investigation.
A dedicated police team led by SHO PS Kishtwar, Inspector Firdous Ahmed, assisted by SI Roop Krishan, and working under the supervision of Dy. SP Headquarters Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta, JKPS, analyzed CCTV footage from nearby areas and deployed technical as well as human intelligence.
As a result of sustained efforts, the police team successfully arrested the accused, Labba Ram S/o Som Nath, resident of Preet Nagar, Kishtwar, and recovered the stolen motorcycle from his possession within 24 hours of FIR registration. The recovery was effected on January 17, 2026, from Jammu, and the stolen vehicle has since been brought to Kishtwar next day for further legal proceedings.
SSP Kishtwar reiterated that District Police remain committed to effective policing, speedy investigations, and maintaining zero tolerance towards crime, assuring the public that all criminal elements will be dealt with strictly as per law.
