“My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the cloudburst and flooding in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. The situation is being closely monitored, and rescue and relief operations are underway. Every possible support will be provided to those in need,” PM Narendra Modi said on X.
Notably, large-scale rescue and relief efforts were launched after a massive cloudburst hit a remote village in Kishtwar district on Thursday, claiming at least 17 lives and causing extensive damage, officials reported.
The disaster struck Chositi, the last motorable village on the route to Machail Mata temple, between 12 noon and 1 pm, when a large crowd had gathered for the Machail Mata yatra. (Agencies)
