Kathua Encounter: LG, CM Pay Tribute to Martyred Policemen

Kathua, J&K: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday paid homage to the police personnel who lost their lives in an ongoing encounter in Kathua district.

Expressing his condolences, LG Sinha said, “I bow to the valorous martyrs of J&K Police, who laid down their lives for our motherland. My deepest condolences to their families.” He also confirmed that several terrorists had been neutralized in the operation, adding that security forces were continuing their efforts.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also mourned the loss of the policemen, stating, “Pride and grief intertwine as we remember Balwinder Singh Chib, Jaswant Singh, and Tariq Ahmed, who laid down their lives during an anti-terror operation in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir.” He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a swift recovery for the injured.

The encounter, which began early Thursday in a remote forested area of Kathua, has so far claimed the lives of four police personnel and three terrorists. Security forces remain engaged in the operation as efforts to eliminate the remaining threat continue.
