Anantnag/New Delhi, Apr 4 : Kashmiri writer Dr Showkat Shifa represented Jammu and Kashmir at the Sahitya Akademi Annual Festival of Letters held in New Delhi from March 30 to April 4.
Shifa took part in the national literary event organised by the Sahitya Akademi under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, officials said.
The festival witnessed participation of more than 700 writers and scholars from over 90 Indian languages, featuring nearly 100 sessions throughout the multi-day programme. The theme of this year’s festival was “Indian Literature: The Cradle of Cultures”.
A resident of Anantnag district in south Kashmir, Shifa participated as a panellist in a session titled “Healing Sounds – The Soothing Power of Poetry” held on April 3.
The discussion highlighted the role of poetry in reflecting human emotions such as love, hope, sorrow and peace.
His participation has been widely appreciated in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, with locals calling it a notable achievement.
The Annual Festival of Letters is regarded as a prominent platform for literary exchange, showcasing the richness and diversity of Indian literature.
Shifa is expected to return to Kashmir on Saturday, officials added. (Agency)
