J&K Records Over 3,177 Thousand MT Milk Production, Aims for 3,300 Thousand MT by March 2026
Jammu, Feb 7: The Jammu and Kashmir government has reported that milk production in the Union Territory reached 3,177.38 thousand metric tonnes during the financial year 2024–25.
In the current financial year 2025–26, milk production has so far reached 2,108.45 thousand metric tonnes up to November 2025, the government said, noting that efforts are underway to further increase output.
The government has set a target of achieving 3,300 thousand metric tonnes of milk production by March 2026, reflecting a continued focus on strengthening the livestock and dairy sector.
Officials said the increase in production is being supported through improved breeding practices, enhanced veterinary services, and targeted interventions aimed at boosting farmers’ incomes and ensuring nutritional security. (Agencies)
