The order, issued by Commissioner/Secretary M. Raju, IAS, is a partial modification of the earlier Government Order No. 2193-JK(GAD) of 2024 dated December 29, 2024. The rescheduling applies only to the Kashmir province and aims to ensure proper observance of the Urs festival while minimizing disruption to public services.

Officials have urged government employees and the general public to take note of the revised date and plan accordingly. The Urs of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Sahib is a significant spiritual and cultural event in Kashmir, attracting devotees from across the region to pay homage at the saint’s shrine.

By moving the holiday to a Monday, authorities are expected to facilitate better management of public participation in the Urs celebrations while ensuring minimal impact on administrative functioning.
