Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday launched the newly developed official website of the Department of Culture, marking a significant step towards digital governance and enhanced public access to cultural services. The portal is designed to offer comprehensive information on the Department’s cultural heritage, activities and initiatives.
The website was launched in the presence of the Principal Secretary, Culture Department; Secretary, IT; Executive Director, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society; Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, and other senior officers.
Accessible at https://culture.jk.gov.in, the website serves as a single digital window for citizens, artists, researchers and institutions to access departmental information, cultural resources and public services in a transparent and user-friendly manner.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary termed the launch a major step towards leveraging technology for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, while strengthening citizen engagement and service delivery under the Digital J&K initiative.
Principal Secretary, Culture, Brij Mohan Sharma said a key upcoming feature of the portal will be online auditorium and hall booking facilities of the Department, enabling users to check availability and submit booking requests digitally. The initiative aims to ensure transparency, efficiency and ease of access to cultural infrastructure across the Union Territory.
The portal includes detailed sections on the departmental profile, divisions, legislation, projects, and both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. It also provides real-time updates on events, orders, circulars and official notifications.
In addition, the website hosts rich digital galleries showcasing monuments, festivals, performances, archaeological artefacts, sculptures, terracotta objects, traditional jewellery and other cultural assets, reflecting the diverse and vibrant heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Department of Culture reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding, promoting and digitally documenting the cultural legacy of Jammu and Kashmir through modern, accessible and transparent platforms. (Agencies)
