The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and expressed full support for the diplomatic actions taken by the Union Government after the Cabinet Committee on Security’s meeting.

During a special session to address the April 22 attack, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary presented a resolution emphasizing that the attack was an assault on the values of “Kashmiriyat,” the Constitution, and the spirit of unity, peace, and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. The resolution expressed condolences and solidarity with the victims and their families.

Members of the Assembly observed a two-minute silence to honor the 26 victims of the attack.

The resolution stated: “This House expresses profound shock and anguish at the barbaric and inhumane attack on innocent civilians at Pahalgam. This House unequivocally condemns the heinous, cowardly act that resulted in the loss of innocent lives.”

The resolution also honored the bravery of Shaheed Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who lost his life trying to save tourists during the attack. It read, “His courage and selflessness embody the true spirit of Kashmir and shall serve as an enduring inspiration for future generations.”

The Assembly also acknowledged the unity and resilience of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the attack and expressed strong support for the Union Government’s diplomatic response announced on April 23, 2025.

The attack, one of the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama strike, has intensified India’s diplomatic measures against Pakistan for its involvement in cross-border terrorism.
