He said a total of 11 cases and 1,259 complaints were resolved between January 1 and March 31, leading to the recovery of Rs 3,51,76,914 that had been siphoned off by fraudsters. The resolved cases also included five pending from earlier backlog.
Several complaints received through the grievance portal were also addressed during this period, the spokesperson added.
Additionally, 42 missing mobile phones worth Rs 8.4 lakh were recovered.
As many as 23 awareness programmes were organised to educate the public about cyber safety, while 10 students from Central University of Jammu completed internships at the Cyber Police Station, Jammu, gaining hands-on experience in cyber policing.
The spokesperson noted a sharp rise in cyber fraud cases, particularly those involving “digital arrests”, AI-based voice cloning, and investment scams.
“People should stay alert, as fraudsters are posing as law enforcement officials to create fear and extract money,” he said.
“In case of any cyber fraud, report immediately to the national helpline (1930) within the ‘golden hour’ to improve chances of freezing the funds, or lodge a complaint on the official portal (cybercrime.gov.in),” he added. (Agency)
