J&K DG Prisons HK Lohia Found Dead; Domestic help main accused in murder of DG Prisons: Police

Srinagar, Oct 04: IPS officer H K Lohia, who was recently appointed as the DGP of the Jammu and Kashmir Prisons Department, was found dead on Monday.

 

According to ADGP Mukesh Singh, Lohia’s dead body was found under suspicious circumstances on Monday evening. The IPS officer was found with stab and burn injuries. His body is being brought to Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu

 

“First examination of the scene of crime reveals this as a suspected murder case. The domestic help with the officer is absconding. A search for him has started. Forensic teams and crime teams are on spot. The investigation process has begun. Senior officers are on spot,” he said.

 

The official was murdered at a friend’s house in the Udaywala area of Jammu, officials said.

Meanwhile Jammu Police said that domestic Help of DG Prisons HK Lohia is the main accused in his murder.

 
The statement issued to KNS says In the initial investigation into the incident of death of DG Prisons, HK Lohia, it has come to fore that domestic helper Yasir Ahmead resident of Ramban is the main accused. 
 
Some CCTV footages collected from the incident site also shows the suspected accused running away after commission of this crime, it added. 
 
“He was working in this house for nearly 6 months.. Initial investigation also reveals that he was quite aggressive in his behaviour and was also under depression as per sources,” statement reads.
 
“So far no terror act is apparent as per Initial investigation but thorough probe is on to rule out any possibility. The weapon of offence has been seized besides some documentary evidence reflecting his mental state,” it added.
