Intense counter-terrorism operations are currently underway across multiple areas of Jammu and Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, sources familiar with the situation said.
Due to the sensitive nature of the operations, specific details are not being shared at this time, with further information expected soon.
On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir police conducted raids at 13 locations in the Doda district to dismantle terrorist hideouts and take action against individuals linked to militant activities.
This intensified security effort follows the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives.
Meanwhile, Srinagar Police also carried out extensive searches across the city, targeting the residences of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and terrorist associates tied to banned outfits. The operation is part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to a police statement, searches were conducted at the homes of 63 individuals. The operation followed proper legal procedures and was overseen by Executive Magistrates, with independent witnesses present. The goal was to seize weapons, documents, and digital devices, aiding evidence collection and intelligence gathering to prevent any further terrorist activities.
In a related operation on Saturday, a joint team from the Special Operations Group (SOG) Camp Machil and the Indian Army’s 12 SIKH LI unit, acting on specific intelligence, launched a mission in the Sedori Nala forest area. The operation led to the discovery and destruction of a terrorist hideout, where a significant arms and ammunition cache was recovered, including five AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, one pistol, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
