Jammu: Soon after the G20 celebrations will be over in New Delhi on September 11, the NDA Government at the center led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to call a special five-day Parliament monsoon session beginning from September 18 to 22, 2023. The surprise announcement was tweeted by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi today.

In recent past, the general monsoon session of the Parliament concluded in New Delhi. Now, for some very essential political developments or some other reasons, a brief session of Parliament is being called upon by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi. Though nothing is known about its agenda, it surely indicates that something is going to happen which may not sound healthier as far as the INDIA alliance is concerned.

Though there has been a history of calling specially sessions of Parliament in the past too, which are as follows:-

August 14-15, 1947: The first session of the Indian Parliament was held on August 14/15, 1947, on the eve of India’s Independence to witness the transfer of power from the British authorities to the Indian people. India began its independent, sovereign journey after 200 years of colonialism, as reflected in Nehru’s ‘Tryst With Destiny’ speech.

On August 14-15, 1972, the session was held to celebrate 25 years of India’s independence.

Similarly, on August 9, 1992, the midnight session of Parliament was organized to mark the 50th anniversary of the ‘Quit India’ or ‘Bharat Chhodo Movement’. Mahatma Gandhi, with his ‘do or die’ speech on August 8, 1942, had launched the Quit India Movement that dealt the fatal blow to British colonialism in India.

On August 14-15, 1997: The midnight session was organized to mark 50 years of independence while on June 30, 2017, it was the last special session organized in the Indian Parliament to mark the GST rollout across India the next day.

In this special session, what is going to be held for a brief period of 5 days from September 18, which will have only five sittings. There has been a question rolling in the minds of political pundits because officially nothing has been said in this regard, but speculations are rife that this special session of Parliament is going to likely see a bill for One Nation One Election on the table, and the same will be passed by the NDA Government to give a dent to opposition parties who formed an alliance under the name and style INDIA to fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party at various fronts for one pretext or the other.

Unconfirmed sources told News Insider that the unity of INDIA alliance has grown stronger than ever before after a crucial meeting was held in Mumbai on Thursday. While the NDA Government looks for a remedy to weaken this alliance and break it down.

Therefore, the mindset of political experts is focused at this point in time that in this special session, a bill for One Nation One Election may be tabled and simultaneously passed so that the alliance partners of INDIA will start going back to their Assembly constituencies of their respective states and keep themselves away from any other activities, and that will be purely beneficial for the ruling Party.

Most probably, the Women Reservation bill and UCC bill also may be seen during the session on the table, and the fact about it cannot be ruled out, unofficial sources confirmed.
