IGP Kashmir Reviews Security Measures, Calls for Strengthened Intelligence and Coordination Ahead of Upcoming Events

Srinagar, Feb 11: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, V. K. Birdi, today chaired a high-level joint security review meeting at the Police Control Room in Kashmir ahead of upcoming important events.

The meeting was attended by senior officers from J&K Police, intelligence agencies, the Army, Railways, and Central Armed Police Forces deployed in the Kashmir Zone.

IGP Kashmir reviewed the prevailing security situation and assessed preparedness and coordination measures for the upcoming events. Emphasis was placed on effective intelligence sharing, inter-agency coordination, and sustained public cooperation to maintain peace and security.

District Police Chiefs were instructed to intensify market inspection drives in coordination with the Civil Administration to prevent hoarding, black marketing, and overpricing of essential commodities. They were also directed to enhance community engagement to ensure smooth conduct of religious and public events.

In anticipation of increased tourist activity, the IGP ordered strengthened security measures at key tourist destinations. Security arrangements at railway stations and tracks were reviewed, with instructions to intensify patrolling, surveillance, and preventive measures, including public awareness initiatives to avert accidents. Security along the National Highway was also assessed, with directions for further reinforcement.

IGP Kashmir urged all officers to remain vigilant, strengthen intelligence and response mechanisms, and maintain close coordination to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of forthcoming events across the Kashmir Valley. (Agencies)
