GMC Srinagar Recalls Faculty from Leave Amid Heightened Security Situation
Srinagar, May 9: In a move reflecting increased medical preparedness across Jammu and Kashmir, the Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar has directed all faculty members currently on leave — excluding those on maternity or medical leave — to immediately resume their duties.
The directive, issued through an official circular by Dr. Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal and Dean of GMC Srinagar, stated, “Pursuant to the directions issued by the Government, it is impressed upon all the faculty members of Government Medical College, Srinagar and its Associated Hospitals who are on different kinds of leaves (except Maternity/Medical Leave) to resume their duties forthwith.”
The decision comes in the backdrop of recent drone attacks and unprovoked shelling by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC), which have triggered a state of heightened alert in medical institutions across the region. GMC’s directive is part of broader efforts to ensure adequate healthcare readiness in the event of emergencies.
