Ex Congress Minister Saroori Visits Chatroo, Interacts with Locals; Raises Key Public Issues

Kishtwar, March 26, 2026: Senior Congress leader and former minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today conducted an extensive tour of several areas in Chatroo Block, where he engaged with local residents to understand their concerns and assess ground realities.

During the interactions, residents highlighted a range of pressing issues, including a sharp rise in electricity bills, frequent unscheduled power cuts, and challenges in updating ration cards from APL to BPL categories. Concerns were also raised over rising unemployment, irregularities in the implementation of MGNREGA, and other basic civic problems. Locals expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of visible development and improvement in essential services.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Saroori voiced concern that despite nearly two years under the current dispensation, the situation on the ground remains largely unchanged. He attributed the ongoing hardships to administrative inefficiencies and lack of effective governance.

He urged the public to extend support to the Indian National Congress, asserting that the party continues to stand for inclusive growth, public welfare, and the protection of democratic values.

Highlighting his tenure, Mr. Saroori recalled that several developmental initiatives were undertaken in Chatroo, resulting in noticeable improvements in infrastructure and public services. He assured the people that with renewed public backing, such development could be revived and further strengthened.

The visit was accompanied by several Congress leaders, including Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, Mohd Iqbal Keen, Irshad Ahmed, Ayaz Ahmed Malik, Akhtar Hussain Butt, Ch. Bashir Ahmed, Shahnawaz Hussain Malik, Mohd Ayoob Malik, Farooq Ahmed Wani, Mohd Ishaq, Mohd Irfan Mattoo, Javed Ahmed, Sajjad Ahmed Malik, and Mohd Issa Malik, along with a large number of local residents.
