EAM Jaishankar Stresses Role of Culture, Innovation & Technology in Realising Viksit Bharat Vision at WAVES 2025
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Friday emphasized the pivotal role of culture, innovation, and technology in achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047. He also underlined the importance of making global systems more inclusive by amplifying diverse traditions, heritage, ideas, and creative expressions.
Speaking on the second day of the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit 2025 (WAVES), Jaishankar said, “Transformation has a deep cultural aspect. The world is inherently diverse, but this pluralism has long been stifled by colonialism and major power dominance. To truly democratise the international system, we must amplify our cultural voices. Technology, when used effectively, can help us do just that. Innovation is the key to leapfrogging progress and realising the dream of Viksit Bharat by 2047.”
He highlighted the need for mindset shifts and changes in policies and practices to build a globalised, adaptive workforce. “Talent and tasks will constantly evolve. Greater mobility can unlock stronger creativity. In today’s information-saturated world, capturing attention is the real challenge.”
Addressing the impact of emerging technologies, Jaishankar called for ethical and responsible usage, particularly in the case of Artificial Intelligence. “As we deal with authenticity concerns and new intellectual property challenges, it’s essential to equip young talent with the necessary skills. The responsible use of emerging technologies, reduction of biases, content democratisation, and ethical considerations must be central to our evolving discourse,” he added.
WAVES 2025, India’s first international summit dedicated to the audio-visual and entertainment industry, has brought together over 10,000 delegates, 1,000 creators, 300 companies, and 350 startups. The event spans across various media sectors, including film, OTT, AVGC-XR, comics, AI, and broadcasting, showcasing India’s growing role in the global creative and technology space.
