Drug Peddler Held with Over 1.2 Kg Brown Sugar in Baramulla: Police
In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Baramulla Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband in the Boniyar area of the district.
According to a police spokesperson, the incident took place during the intervening night of April 7 and 8, 2025, when a police party deployed at Bernate Bala, Boniyar, intercepted a suspicious individual. The person was identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir, son of Late Hafiz-Ullah Mir, a resident of Bernate, Boniyar.
“Upon searching the suspect, police recovered 1.216 kilograms of a substance believed to be brown sugar, along with a digital weighing machine. The accused was immediately taken into custody,” the spokesperson said.
A case under FIR No. 25/2025 has been registered at Police Station Boniyar under relevant sections of law. An investigation has been launched to trace the source of the contraband and identify other individuals involved in the drug network.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the region and urged citizens to cooperate by reporting any information related to drug peddling in their areas.
