Jammu Jan 03, 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary held a detailed meeting with the Shri Hudh Mata Trisandiya Yatra Managing Committee, Dachhan, in the presence of DDC Chairperson Kishtwar, Pooja Thakur, to discuss key infrastructure-related issues aimed at improving facilities for pilgrims.
The discussions primarily revolved around the long-pending demand for a motorable road up to the shrine and the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the remaining road stretch from Anantnalla onwards, which is crucial for ensuring safe, smooth, and all-weather access to devotees visiting the shrine.
It was highlighted during the meeting that Hudh Mata Yatra is the third biggest pilgrimage in Kishtwar district, after the Machail Mata Yatra and Sarthal Yatra, attracting thousands of devotees every year. The lack of proper road connectivity, particularly on the final stretch, poses serious hardships for pilgrims, especially senior citizens, women, and children.
Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary assured the Yatra Managing Committee that the government is committed to strengthening pilgrimage infrastructure in remote and hilly regions. He stated that the proposed road project would not only facilitate devotees but also play a vital role in promoting pilgrimage tourism in Kishtwar district, thereby generating livelihood opportunities for local residents.
The meeting further noted that the Hudh Mata area is also a world-renowned trekking route leading to the Bharama Peak, making the road project significant from the perspective of adventure tourism as well. Improved connectivity is expected to boost footfall of trekkers, tourists, and nature enthusiasts from across the country and abroad.
DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among concerned departments to expedite DPR preparation and ensure timely execution of the project. She reiterated that enhanced connectivity to religious and tourist destinations remains a priority for inclusive development of the district.
The Shri Hudh Mata Trisandiya Yatra Managing Committee expressed gratitude to the Deputy Chief Minister and the DDC Chairperson for their positive response and hoped that the project would soon materialize, ensuring safer access and overall development of the region.
