‘Delhi banega Khalistan’: Several metro stations defaced ahead of G20 summit

Walls of several metro stations across Delhi were found defaced with pro-Khalistan graffiti ahead of the G20 summit on September 9-10, police said on Sunday.

In response, the Delhi Police have taken measures to remove the graffiti, utilising mud and water to erase the markings. Police registered a case and initiated a probe into the matter.

“It is a law and order situation. We will cooperate with the Delhi Police,” a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation official said as quoted by news agency PTI.

Slogans such as ‘Delhi Banega Khalistan’ and ‘Khalistan Referendum Zindabad’ were found sprayed in black on the walls of metro stations, including Punjabi Bagh, Shivaji Park, Madipur, Paschim Vihar, Udyog Nagar and Maharaja Surajmal Stadium — all located in West Delhi.

Ahead of the G20 summit, Delhi Police is monitoring social media to prevent the spread of rumors and inflammatory content, identify criminal elements, and focus on security at malls, markets, and religious sites in the city.

All borders into the national capital will be sealed to prevent unauthorised entry, but normal vehicular and public movement will be allowed, Delhi Police said.
