Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will chair an all-party meeting on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming Budget session, scheduled to begin on January 28 and continue until April 2.
Both the Defence Minister and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju arrived at the Parliament complex ahead of the meeting.
The session will be held in the main Committee Room of Parliament and aims to finalise the agenda for the Budget session.
The Budget session will run in two phases: the first from January 28 to February 13, and the second from March 9 to April 2, with one break in between. It will feature 30 sittings, with the Union Budget 2026-27 scheduled for presentation on February 1. President Droupadi Murmu will formally inaugurate the session, addressing members of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The all-party meeting will discuss the session’s agenda to ensure smooth proceedings. In previous sessions, including the monsoon and winter sessions of 2025, Opposition parties have raised issues related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which is currently underway nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Congress Parliamentary Party’s strategy group will meet at the residence of CPP chairperson Sonia Gandhi to plan its approach for the upcoming session. (Agencies)
