Poonch, January,12,2026 : Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma (JKAS), today chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on Safe Food and Healthy Diets to review the effective implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006 in the district.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch, Shafket Hussain Bhat; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik; General Manager DIC Poonch, Naheem Un Nissa Bhatti; Chief Education Officer, Mukhtar Manhas; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan; CAO, Jograj Singh Salathia, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Poonch, Tariq Mehmood, Assistant Director FSC & CA, Adil Shabir; and other concerned officers and officials were present in the meeting.
The meeting focused on enforcement, inspection and sampling of food items to ensure adherence to prescribed food safety standards. Detailed discussions were held on various food safety measures and the coordinated role of different departments and agencies in safeguarding public health.
Key issues deliberated included the availability and functioning of slaughter houses, sampling of food items, implementation of the Eat Right Movement, availability of fresh fruits and vegetables in local markets, and the functioning of Food Safety on Wheels, besides other related matters.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized the importance of proactive and preventive measures to ensure the safety and quality of food products, thereby strengthening public health and consumer confidence. The Deputy Commissioner issued necessary directions to the concerned Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety (ACF), to ensure timely completion of all
