In a major crackdown on the terror support network, Srinagar Police on Thursday raided 21 locations across the city as part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Simultaneously, authorities attached a piece of land measuring one Kanal and 11 Marlas in Jammu’s Poonch district, reportedly linked to a Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handler.

A senior police official said the multi-location searches were conducted to identify and dismantle individuals aiding proscribed terror organisations. The raids, carried out with proper legal sanctions, were conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses and were supervised by senior Jammu and Kashmir Police officers.

The searches targeted the homes of several individuals named in terror-related FIRs, including Aadil Nazir Janada (Gousia Colony Babademb), Faizyab Showkat Dewani (Pather Masjid), and Momin Ahmad Sheikh (Aali Kadal), among others. These individuals are allegedly involved in cases of terror funding, conspiracy, and unlawful activities under the UAPA and IPC.

Additional locations included residences of known associates like Fayaz Ahmad Kullo (Rasmpora Chattabal), Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar alias Latrum (Gani Mohalla Jamia Masjid), and Showkat Ahmad Khandwa (Malpora Jamia Masjid). Police also searched homes in localities such as Khanyar, Hazari Bazar, Syedpora, Shalimar, Urdu Bazar, Kadikadal, and Asaar Colony.

Several digital devices, documents, and other incriminating materials were seized, officials confirmed. “The goal is to break the infrastructure that enables terrorism in the Valley. Anyone found involved in supporting terror—financially, logistically, or ideologically—will face the full force of the law,” the officer said.

In a separate operation in Poonch, Mendhar Police—alongside Revenue Department officials—attached the land belonging to Mohammad Riyaz, a resident of Kasblari in Tehsil Mankote who is currently based in Pakistan. Riyaz is affiliated with the banned LeT outfit and is wanted in multiple terror-related cases. The action was taken under FIR No. 177/2024 registered at Mendhar Police Station under the UAPA.

“This is part of a larger strategy to choke the financial and operational capabilities of cross-border terror handlers. Those who collaborate with or support such elements will not be spared,” said the official.

He emphasized the administration’s unwavering commitment to national security, warning that any form of support for terror networks—direct or indirect—would attract severe legal consequences.
