Cong practised divisive politics in J&K: Dr Jitendra

NEW DELHI/JAMMU, Aug 30 : Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, MoS PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh today said Congress – National Conference always practised divisive politics in jammu & Kashmir while BJP ensured justice for all.

He also accused them of entering “a marriage of convenience”  and failing to take a clear stance on crucial national issues.

In an interview to a news agency, Dr. Jitendra Singh asserted that the BJP has the strength to face elections alone, without the need for alliances, unlike the Congress, which he described as relying on “old, recycled alliances” that have only changed names over time. “BJP fights alone and our vote share is not just consistent but is expanding into new areas,” he stated.

The Minister challenged the Congress to clarify their position on Article 370, pointing out the contradiction between their silence and the National Conference’s open advocacy for its restoration. “The Congress is stuck in a contradiction; they cannot openly state their objective. This is their weakness. The people of Jammu and Kashmir will not accept this two-faced approach,” he  emphasised.

Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the BJP’s achievements, particularly the revocation of Article 370, a promise left unfulfilled by Congress. “It was Jawaharlal Nehru who said Article 370 was a temporary provision, but it was PM Narendra Modi who finally fulfilled this promise,” he noted. He contrasted this with the Congress’ approach, accusing them of spreading hatred and disturbing the peace in regions like Doda, once known for its composite culture.

Dr. Jitendra Singh credited Prime Minister Modi for bringing peace and justice to the region, making it possible for leaders like Rahul Gandhi to freely roam the streets of Srinagar, something unimaginable during previous Congress-led Governments. “This itself is a testimony to the changed security situation under PM Modi’s leadership,” he remarked.

Referring to the BJP’s poll strategy, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the party’s democratic process of decision-making, involving karyakartas from the booth level and a multi-layered committee structure. “Unlike Congress, which is steeped in nepotism, the BJP’s work culture is different and incomparable,” he stated

Dr. Jitendra Singh defended the BJP’s decision to call off the alliance with PDP, asserting that principles are the cornerstone of the BJP’s approach, not power. “When we realised that there would be a compromise on principles, we came out of the alliance even though we enjoyed full majority” he explained.

When asked whether BJP will give a Hindu Chief Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh categorically stated, BJP CM will be from BJP regardless of religion or caste.’

This politically charged press release underscores Dr. Jitendra Singh’s firm stance against Congress and his confidence in the BJP’s continued leadership under Prime Minister Modi.
