Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ramban and senior civil and police officials, the Chief Minister traveled by road from Srinagar to Marog, one of the worst-hit villages. Displaying his government’s commitment, he trekked several kilometers on foot through rugged terrain to reach Kela Morh, where flash floods triggered by the cloudburst caused widespread damage.

The calamity has claimed three lives and inflicted severe damage on homes, vehicles, and vital road infrastructure. With the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway blocked, Ramban—considered the key link between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley—remained cut off for a second day.

Interacting with residents and officials, CM Abdullah was briefed on the extent of destruction and the progress of relief operations. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and assured full support to affected families.

“The level of destruction is alarming. Our teams are working around the clock to ensure relief, safety, and rehabilitation for everyone impacted,” he said. “We will leave no stone unturned in helping our people through this crisis.”

The Chief Minister instructed departments to fast-track the restoration of the highway to restore vehicular movement as soon as possible.

Officials informed him that clearance efforts are in full swing, with teams from the PWD, BRO, disaster response forces, police, volunteers, and locals working tirelessly to remove mudslides and debris to restore normalcy.
