CM Omar Abdullah visits flood-affected areas of Anantnag to assess damage

The Chief Minister instructed the district administration to expedite restoration work on a priority basis and ensure timely delivery of essential supplies to the affected areas.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday visited several areas of South Kashmir’s Anantnag town and other flood-hit parts of the district to review the situation caused by the recent heavy rains.

According to details available with news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), he was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Advisor to CM Nasir Aslam Wani, Cabinet Ministers Javed Rana and Sakina Itoo, along with legislators Altaf Kaloo, Majeed Larmi, Dr. Bashir Veeri, Reyaz Khan, and Zafar Khattana. Officials from the district administration, including Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Syed Farkahudin, also joined the visit.

During the visit, the Chief Minister interacted with affected families and reviewed the damage caused to homes, roads, and public infrastructure. He assured that all necessary measures would be taken to provide relief and assistance to those impacted by the floods.

The Chief Minister visited Mehdi Kadal, Deva Colony, Ashajipora Bridge, and several other areas of the district to assess the situation.

He directed the district administration to expedite restoration works on priority and ensure uninterrupted supply of essentials to the affected areas.

Sources said CM Omar Abdullah will now chair a meeting with district officials at Dak Bungalow Anantnag to review the situation and issue necessary directions. (Agencies)
