CM Omar Abdullah Inaugurates ‘Almond Bloom Festival’ at Srinagar’s Badamwari Garden

Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday inaugurated the much-anticipated ‘Almond Bloom Festival’ at the historic Badamwari Garden in the heart of Srinagar’s old city, officially marking the arrival of spring in the Kashmir Valley.

Jointly organised by the Departments of Tourism and Floriculture, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from top government officials, artists, and members of the public.

Prominent attendees included Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chowdhury, NC Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Director Tourism, and several other dignitaries.

A major attraction of the festival was a grand musical show that began at 3 PM. The stage came alive with soulful performances by celebrated Kashmiri artists, including Noor Mohammad, Aayan Sajad, Irfan Bilal, and Zaid Sikandar, captivating the audience and adding a cultural vibrancy to the occasion.

The Almond Bloom Festival is a tribute to Kashmir’s rich natural heritage and serves as a symbol of the Valley’s seasonal renewal. The blossoming almond trees at Badamwari, a sight cherished by locals and tourists alike, have historically signaled the beginning of spring in the region.

Officials said the festival not only celebrates nature’s beauty but also provides an important platform for local talent, supporting the region’s cultural and artistic expressions.
