Jammu, Sept 18: Remaining in power for long intervals of time Congress party,National Conference and other regional parties were opponents of ideology of great last Dogra ruler of erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Hari Singh,who failed to declare a public holiday on his birth anniversary which falls on September 23 despite ruling J&K for the last over seven decades.
This was stated by Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party president Ravinder Raina on the sidelines of Government order whereunder September 23 has been declared a public holiday in J&K in pertext of great Maharaja’s birth anniversary after a long struggle by the Dogra Rajput community.
While talking during an interview to News Insider BJP chief lambasted Congress party, National Conference,and PDP for their indifferent approach to have a public holiday on Maharaja’s birth anniversary in the state. He said these parties mainly ruled the Jammu and Kashmir for over seven decades but never bothered to declare September 23 as public holiday as has been declared now with utmost struggle by Dogra community and BJP.
In reply to a question that BJP leaders who were in NC earlier celebrated the holiday today but could not make it when they were in NC and power was in their hands ,the BJP chief said it was only BJP which can make history with the support of people of Jammu and Kashmir otherwise those who ruled state for decades were opponents of ideology of great Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh and often were used to hatch a conspiracy against him and in the dye course of time he had to left the state after acceeding with union of India on September 26, 1947 and lived an exiled life in Bombay now Mumbai till he breathed his last there.
Ravinder Raina also threw light on the social reforms of great Maharaja whom he termed a far sighted, visionary and popular among masses and will be remembered for times to come.
