The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps on Tuesday mourned the sacrifice of Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, who lost his life while on operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla district. The Corps paid tribute to his bravery, expressed condolences, and extended solidarity to his family.

In a statement on X, the Army said, “Chinar Corps deeply regret the loss of brave Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar while performing operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla district. We salute his immense valor and sacrifice, express our deepest condolences, and stand united with the bereaved family.”

Earlier, on Monday, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi expressed their condolences over the deaths of two soldiers, Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, who were killed during Operation Kulgam in ongoing counter-terror operations in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff posted on X that General Chauhan and all ranks of the Indian Armed Forces saluted the supreme sacrifice of Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, who laid down their lives in the line of duty in Kashmir. They offered their deepest sympathies to the families and affirmed their support during this difficult time.

In a condolence message, ADGP said, “General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS, and all ranks of the Indian Army pay tribute to Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice during duty in Kashmir. The Indian Army extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and stands firmly with them in this hour of grief.”

Officials confirmed that the two soldiers died on the ninth day of operations in the Akhal Devsar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Chinar Corps also paid homage to the fallen soldiers and noted that one terrorist has been neutralised so far in the ongoing operation. (Agencies)
