In response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag Police, in coordination with the Army, CRPF, and other security agencies, have intensified anti-terror operations across the district.
Terrorists had attacked tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on April 22, resulting in the deaths of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, while several others were injured.
As part of the crackdown, extensive cordon and search operations are underway at multiple locations. Raids are being conducted both day and night, and heightened surveillance measures have been put in place. So far, nearly 175 suspects have been detained for questioning to break the terror support network.
To further strengthen security, additional Mobile Vehicle Check Points (MVCPs) have been established throughout the district to monitor and intercept suspicious activities.
Simultaneously, Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs), ambushes, and intensified patrolling are being carried out, especially in forested areas, to eliminate any potential terrorist hideouts and maintain security.
Anantnag Police, along with partner forces, reiterated their commitment to preserving peace and preventing any disruption of normal life. They urged public cooperation, encouraging citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities.
Meanwhile, heightened security measures have also been implemented in the Rajouri region. Security forces are conducting stringent vehicle checks along the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway, with a strong presence deployed to avert any untoward incidents.
On Friday, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi arrived in Srinagar for the first time since the Pahalgam terror attack. He reviewed the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir and was briefed on actions being undertaken to counter terrorist threats and the Pakistan Army’s attempts to violate the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC).
