LG Sinha Urges J&K Police to Eradicate Terror Networks, Empower Youth, and Promote Community Peace

Jammu, Feb 9, : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday directed the J&K Police to act decisively against terrorism and work with all sections of society to completely eradicate terror networks.

“J&K Police’s unbreakable resolve sends a clear message to the nation — adversity will not crack our spirit. We will overcome every barrier to achieve new milestones,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the J&K Police Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium in Jammu. The tournament, returning after a hiatus of over 10 years, will feature 14 competing teams this year.

The Lieutenant Governor paid tribute to the brave personnel of J&K Police, who “sacrificed their today for the nation’s tomorrow,” saying they wore their uniform as a duty to all and valued national honor above life.

“Real tributes to our martyrs do not fade; they live on in the memories and hearts of future generations. Our martyrs embodied duty and self-sacrifice. It is our responsibility to pass these values to the youth and build their character,” he added.

He also commended the J&K Police for empowering young people through the Civic Action Program. “The Civic Action Program is more than a government initiative — it reflects a mindset that lasting peace grows from mutual trust. Security strengthens when the community is involved,” he said.

Calling on all sections of society to rise against drug abuse, the Lieutenant Governor reaffirmed a commitment to a drug-free J&K, declaring that the Martyrs Memorial Hockey Tournament symbolizes that pledge.

He further reiterated the administration’s and police’s dedication to guiding youth, creating opportunities, and building a society where talent finds platforms, energy finds direction, and dreams are nurtured.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Nalin Prabhat, DGP J&K; S.J.M Gillani, Special DG (Coordination); Abdul Ghani Mir, Commandant General, Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF J&K; Anand Jain, ADGP Armed Police; senior officials of J&K Police and civil administration; members of hockey associations; and eminent sports personalities.
