As per the reports, Amir Khan is going to produce a multi-part film series based on the Hindu Itihasa ‘Mahabharata’… This mega-budget film is likely to be co-produced by India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani… The cost of this project is estimated at around ₹1000 Crore.
However, no official announcement has been made so far, about this mega movie series, but there have been at least 3 indications that this project currently is underway.
A renowned film trade analyst Ramesh Bala on his official Twitter handle confirmed that Actor Amit Khan will start working on mega-budget movie series based on Mahabharata and Mukesh Ambani will be co-producing this project. Ramesh Bala also spoke about that this project “Mahabharata” would be lined up with ‘The Lord Of The Rings’, and ‘Game of Thrones’ In terms of its production cost. He also said that the total cost of this project will be around ₹1000 Crore.

Earlier in an interview with DNA, Shah Rukh Khan had revealed that the project “Mahabharata” is underway and Amir Khan will be seen in the role of Lord Krishna. When it was asked to chose a role for himslef in this mega-budget film, Shah Rukh Khan said that he might like to play the role of Lord Krishna but added that since Amir Khan was already playing this role and so he will not be able to do that.
Earlier, Amir Khan had to play a role of legendary Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma in his biopic but the screen-writer Anjum Rajabali said that the work on Mahabharata-based series had so confused Amir Khan that he had to quit this biopic film.
