AAP Leader Shot Dead in Punjab’s Jalandhar

Unidentified assailants open fire on AAP leader outside gurdwara in Model Town; police scan CCTV footage to trace attackers.

Chandigarh, Feb 06: Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Lucky Oberoi was shot dead on Friday morning outside a gurdwara in Jalandhar’s Model Town area by unidentified assailants, police said.

According to a senior police official, the incident occurred when Oberoi arrived at the gurdwara in his car. The attackers, who were riding a two-wheeler, opened fire at him before fleeing the spot.

Oberoi was rushed to a hospital in Jalandhar, where he later succumbed to his injuries, ACP Jalandhar Parminder Singh said.

Police said the assailants fired at least five rounds at the vehicle. A police team reached the spot soon after the incident.

Further investigation is underway, and CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to identify and trace the attackers, police added. (Agencies)
