In a historic moment, the Rajya Sabha passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill on Wednesday evening (11 December) after 125 MPs voted in its favour while 105 opposed it. The total votes cast were 230 with the majority mark being 116.
Backed by allies like AIADMK, SAD, JDU and other parties like BJD, TDP and YSRCP, it became a relatively easy battle for the BJP. It was also sort of helped by the Shiv Sena which staged a walkout.
The bill was already passed by the Lok Sabha on Monday (9 December) and after President Kovind’s ascent would turn into a law.
This bill will be a boon for persecuted minorities belonging to the Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Christian and Parsi community who have fled from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh to seek refuge in India. It will now become easier for them to avail Indian citizenship.
Many have pointed out that this bill would be a big step towards ensuring that India eventually becomes a natural home for all Hindus.
The CAB was one of the electoral promises of the BJP and was vehemently opposed by the opposition and section of journalists, some of whom decided to indulge in fearmongering and fake news.
The next major step by the Narendra Modi led government is expected to be rolling out of a nationwide NRC.
So the Hinduphobes, in their agenda to oppose the CAB, are floating wrong quotes about Veer Savarkar.
The FAKE Savarkar quote goes thus:
“I have no quarrel with Mr Jinnah’s two-nation theory. We Hindus are a nation by ourselves and it is a historical fact that Hindus and Muslims are two nations”
It has been falsely attributed by media to Savarkar on August 14,1943. Savarkar himself denied uttering any such thing on the very next day.
Thanks to True Indology for exposing the liar Historians who’ve been teaching us the wrong history all along. Here’s what BR Ambedkar had to say about Vaar Savarkar’s stance on partition of India.
There’s an entire lobby of leftists, jihadists and people from the Congress camp that are spreading an entirely false notion about the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019, that it’s based upon the religion of people seeking refuge.
They’re saying it’s anti-muslim because only Jains, Sikhs, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists and Parsis are allowed to seek refuge under this provision.
This is as far as it gets from the truth. The bill seeks to extend an affirmative action to those who’ve been persecuted in our neighbouring countries viz Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
It’s these countries, owing to being DECLARED Islamic republics, that the BASIS of this PERSECUTION in these countries was RELIGION.
Given Muslims were, by very definition, not persecuted in these countries, it’d be laughable to include them under this provision.
However, the Left is spreading lies about the CAB, not just in India but all over the world. If there’s anyone who still doubts the motive behind this bill, they should be educated abut the difference put in the graphic here, which may seem small but matters all that much.
The bill seeks to amend the Citizenship Act, 1955. Once the bill is passed by both the Houses, members of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities, who have come from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, till December 31, 2014 facing religious persecution there, will not be treated as illegal immigrants but given Indian citizenship.
