Jammu, Nov 21: Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) University students are all set to oppose Jammu and Kashmir Public University Bill 2022 which has been introduced by the Administrative Council of J&K Admin headed by the chancellor and LG Manoj Sinha during a meeting here.
The Chancellor termed it an initiative of landmark where as on the other hand JUTA and ABVP opposed the Bill and will resort to protest demonstrations for its roll back sources said here today.
While talking to News Insider 24×7 digital channel and Public Herald newspaper a group of students alleged that administration wants to take over the hold on educational institutions by playing tricks to vitiate the atmosphere of varsities and this type of Bill will be certainly opposed by one and all unanimously because it will erode the autonomy of varsities, they added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the bill is all about enactment of bureautic panel of for selection of faculties. At present the mechanism of recruitment of faculties comprises on the vice-chancellor, dean and heads of the departments besides an external panel, a team of 7 to 8 persons who take a unanimous decision of selecting faculties. Now under this bill the process of recruitment of faculties will be different by introducing a pannel of bureaucrats as have been in practice in varsities of Bihar and Odisha and most probably in that case our own people may not survive,a reliable source explained.
Experts say that if this Bill is introduced then there will be no transparency in recruitment of faculties as have been surfaced in Public Service Commission recruitments earlier,on the other hand students in general in one voice say that this bill if implemented in universities will erode its autonomy so,there is a big question does J&K Public University Bill 2022 erode autonomy of varsities?
