LG Manoj Sinha Pays Tribute to Renowned Writer Shrilal Shukla on Birth Centenary

LUCKNOW, Mar 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the birth centenary celebrations of legendary writer Shrilal Shukla at a special programme in Lucknow, highlighting his literary contributions and deep insights into rural India’s social and political landscape.

Paying homage to Shukla, the LG praised his profound knowledge, sharp satire, and impactful storytelling, which continue to inspire generations. “The power of Shrilal Shukla’s knowledge, ideas, and imagination not only entertains but also guides us in building self-reliant villages and a developed India. Writers of his caliber emerge once in centuries, and his works remain a beacon of wisdom,” Sinha stated.

Referring to Shukla’s acclaimed novel “Raag Darbari”, Sinha described it as a literary masterpiece that has become deeply ingrained in Indian consciousness. He emphasized that great writers play a vital role in inspiring positive societal change, adding, “Books serve as powerful inner eyes, offering glimpses into the world of knowledge and wisdom.”

Prominent personalities including JPS Rathore, Minister of State for Cooperatives, Uttar Pradesh; Dileep Sanghani, Chairman, IFFCO; and Dr. U.S. Awasthi, Managing Director, IFFCO, also paid tribute to Shukla.

Adding a cinematic touch to the event, Bollywood actors Pankaj Tripathi and Ashok Pathak recited excerpts from “Raag Darbari”, bringing its timeless satire to life.

The LG also inaugurated an exhibition dedicated to Shrilal Shukla’s legacy, showcasing his contributions to Indian literature. (AGENCIES)
