The Jammu and Kashmir administration has brought around 10,000 vehicles under mining surveillance as part of efforts to strengthen monitoring of mineral transportation and curb illegal mining activities across the Union Territory.
The surveillance mechanism is intended to track vehicles transporting minerals and ensure that their movement complies with prescribed rules and regulations. The system also enables authorities to monitor mineral transportation more effectively and identify suspected violations.
The move is part of wider efforts to improve transparency in the mining sector, prevent unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals, and strengthen enforcement against violations.
With thousands of vehicles now being monitored, authorities are expected to continue using technology-based surveillance and field-level enforcement to ensure compliance with mining regulations across Jammu and Kashmir.
