300 Grams of Gold Recovered From J&K Bank Locker Theft Case; Gandhi Nagar Police Launch Further Investigation
JAMMU, September 26, 2026: Jammu Police have recovered stolen gold ornaments weighing approximately 300 grams and valued at around ₹50 lakh, cracking a bank-locker theft case within 24 hours of registration. The recovery was made by Police Station Gandhi Nagar following a complaint regarding theft from a J&K Bank locker at the Shastri Nagar branch.
According to police, a complaint was lodged on September 22 by Harvinder Kour, a resident of Ashok Nagar, Jammu, alleging that gold ornaments, her original passport and other personal belongings had been stolen from her bank locker.
Police subsequently registered FIR No. 266/2026 under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, the SHO Gandhi Nagar, along with the police team and personnel from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), examined the place of occurrence and available evidence. Police said sustained investigation and the use of technical and human resources led to the recovery of the stolen ornaments.
The recovery was carried out under the supervision of SDPO South Jammu and SP South Jammu, with overall supervision and guidance from SSP Jammu, according to the police account.
Police said that further investigation and legal proceedings remain underway.
