Her induction is being viewed as a significant political boost for the National Conference in Baramulla district, where the party secured six of the seven Assembly seats in the 2024 elections.

Muzaffar Hussain Baig, a founding member of the PDP, served as Deputy Chief Minister during the PDP-Congress coalition government led by Ghulam Nabi Azad. He also represented Baramulla after winning the Assembly elections in 2002 and 2008, and later won the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat in 2014.
