Minister pays obeisance at Syed Mewaan Shah Qalander shrine and stresses strengthening of horticulture sector for farmer welfare

BARAMULLA, MAY 15: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department Javid Ahmad Dar today paid obeisance at the revered shrine of Syed Mewaan Shah Qalander (RA) at Dalora, Rafiabad in Baramulla district and prayed for peace, prosperity and progress of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation.

During his visit, the Minister prayed for communal harmony, wellbeing of the people and sustained development across the region. He also interacted with the shrine caretaker and devotees, highlighting the importance of spiritual institutions in preserving the Valley’s ethos of brotherhood, tolerance and social harmony.

Later, Javid Ahmad Dar visited a horticulture department facility in Rafiabad where he undertook a detailed review of infrastructure and support services being provided to orchardists and farmers in the area.

He inspected the available facilities and gathered feedback regarding various government schemes and technical assistance being extended to the farming community.

Emphasizing the importance of horticulture as a key pillar of Jammu and Kashmir’s rural economy, the Minister directed officials to ensure efficient service delivery, timely technical guidance and enhanced outreach to farmers so that they can fully benefit from welfare and development initiatives.

He reiterated the government’s commitment towards modernisation of the horticulture sector, capacity building and strengthening institutional support to empower farmers and improve productivity across the Union Territory.

The Minister also stressed the need for proactive field monitoring and better coordination among departments to address farmers’ concerns and ensure effective implementation of developmental programmes at the grassroots level.
