India, which has not formally joined the Board of Peace, participated in the meeting as an “observer” nation.

The country was represented by Chargé d’affaires at the Indian Embassy in Washington DC, Namgya Khampa citing the list of attendees at the meeting held at the Donald Trump Institute of Peace.

Trump, during the inaugural session, announced that the US would commit $10 billion to the Board, whose members include 27 countries such as Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Originally designed to oversee the Gaza ceasefire and the reconstruction of the region, Trump’s self-styled Board of Peace has now expanded its scope to address various international conflicts, raising questions about his vision of creating a rival to the United Nations. (Agency)
