Jammu, Feb 13: Former Forest Minister and Qazigund MLA, Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah, passed away in Jammu on Friday afternoon after a prolonged illness. He had been undergoing treatment for some time before his demise.
According to news Agency, Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad Shah was a respected political leader in the Qazigund constituency, known for his public outreach and contributions to social and political affairs in the region. During his tenure as MLA, he worked on various developmental and public welfare initiatives. As Forest Minister, he played a key role in forest conservation, environmental protection, and administrative reforms within the department.
He was also the uncle of the current Qazigund MLA, Peerzada Feroze Ahmad Shah. News of his passing spread across the constituency and surrounding areas, with political leaders, party workers, and residents expressing deep grief and offering condolences to the bereaved family.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed profound sorrow over his demise and conveyed heartfelt condolences. The Office of the Chief Minister of J&K posted on X:
