Srinagar, Jan 27: At least 50 flights to and from Srinagar International Airport were cancelled on Tuesday due to ongoing snowfall in Kashmir, officials said.
An official of the Airport Authority of India said that most flights for the day were cancelled in view of adverse weather conditions and continuous snowfall at the airport.
So far, around 50 flights — including 25 arrivals and 25 departures — have been cancelled as snowfall continued till the filing of this report. Four additional flights were scheduled to land at Srinagar airport, but officials said their operation remains unlikely due to the prevailing inclement weather.
Passengers have been advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for the latest updates and alternate arrangements, the official added.
The flight cancellations have stranded hundreds of tourists who were scheduled to return home after spending the weekend and Republic Day holidays in the Valley. (Agencies)
