Poonch, Dec 1 — In a deeply saddening development, Atiya Jan, esteemed District Development Council (DDC) member from Mandi and mother of sitting MLA Ajaz Jan, passed away on Monday. Her demise has been widely mourned across Poonch district and the broader political fraternity.
Atiya Jan was known for her commitment to public service and her unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people of Mandi. Her contributions at the grassroots level earned her immense respect within the community.
Political leaders, party workers, and residents expressed profound grief over her passing. In a condolence message, they described her demise as “a great loss to the community and the party,” recalling her steadfast work for the upliftment of the region.
They prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt sympathies to MLA Ajaz Jan and the bereaved family. “May Allah grant them strength, patience, and courage in this difficult time,” leaders said.
Family sources said that funeral prayers will be held at her native village, where a large number of people are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
