Delhi News: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday vacated the 6, Flagstaff Road residence along with his family to move to his new address in the Lutyens’ Zone.
The Aam Aadmi Party chief was seen leaving the house in a car with his wife and son. His parents and daughter left for another. The family departed for party member Ashok Mittal’s official residence at 5 Ferozeshah Road near Mandi House.
Party’s Rajya Sabha from Punjab, Mittal has been allocated the bungalow at the central Delhi address.
Kejriwal announced his resignation from the post of Delhi chief minister last month saying he would hold the post again only after he gets a “certificate of honesty” from the people of Delhi in the Assembly polls due in February.
The surprise announcement was made by Kejriwal during his first address to party workers after being released from Tihar jail in a case filed by CBI over alleged money laundering in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
Party senior leader and minister in Kejriwal’s cabinet, Atishi was appointed as the chief minister and took oath of office later in September.
After stepping down from the post, Kejriwal said he would vacate the official residence during the auspicious Navratri period, which began Thursday.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has accused Kejriwal of corruption in the excise policy and in the reconstruction of the Chief Minister bungalow.
On Thursday, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia shifted to a bungalow on Rajendra Prasad Road which is the official residence of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh.
Sisodia moved with his family from the AB-17 bungalow on Mathura Road that was earlier allotted to him as deputy chief minister of Delhi.
Following Sisodia’s arrest in the excise policy case in March 2023, the bungalow was allotted to the Delhi government minister and now chief minister, Atishi.
She currently lives in her Kalkaji constituency house even after becoming the chief minister while her new address is yet to be decided.
